Fulham vs Liverpool live analysis! – By Joe Prince-Wright at Craven Cottage

FULL TIME: Fulham 2-2 Liverpool. They can! What a huge point that is for Fulham and you know what, they deserved it. What an exciting start to a busy Saturday in the Premier League.

Just a few more minutes here. Can Fulham last?

GOALLLL! Mohamed Salah equalizes for Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross is missed by Tim Ream and the ball bounces to Salah who taps home. What a match!

Fabio Carvalho, the teenage sensation who came from Fulham to Liverpool this summer, throws a shot. Cue relief among the home fans.

GOALLLL! Fulham lead 2-1. Mitrovic shoots in the penalty after he had clearly committed a foul by Virgil van Dijk. Incredible scenes here at Craven Cottage. Fulham fans are in dreamland.

GOALLLL! Darwin Nunez with a daring flick going in via a deflection after great work by Mohamed Salah on the right. Liverpool equalize. Game well and truly here at Craven Cottage.

CLOSE TO! Salah throws the ball over for Darwin Nunez, but his rear heel finish is saved. Fulham fans were behind me: ‘This can’t stay this way!’ Could it be though? Liverpool are getting quite frustrated.

AFTER! How did that not go in!? USMNT‘s Tim Ream does a brilliant job winning the ball back and firing forward, then Neeskens’ shot beats Kebano Alisson, but hits the post and bounces back out. So close to a 2nd for Fulham.

Subdued start to the second half here at Craven Cottage. Fulham sit a little deeper and Liverpool try to come out from behind.

Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott both came into battle for Liverpool early in the second half. Thiago slowly walks away with an injury.

PEACE: Fulham 1-0 Liverpool – Mitrovic headlined the difference as Fulham really rattled Liverpool here. The Reds have come close on a few occasions, but Fulham fully earn their lead with new signings Pereira and Palhinha who are particularly impressive.

AFTER! Luis Diaz hits the post with a beautiful effort as he nearly sneaks in a shot from an impossible angle. Liverpool so close to equalizing.

It must be 1-1. Andy Robertson can be found on the back post and his ball over goal just misses the onrushing Liverpool players. Very good game, this.

GOALLLL! That was coming. Aleksandar Mitrovic heads home to the back post as he towers over Trent Alexander-Arnold to nod home. Fulham fully deserve that lead. They have been excellent so far. The home fans have gone crazy here at Craven Cottage!

BLOCK! Harrison Reed’s shot is well blocked by Robertson and Mitrovic came twice near the end of a cross. Fulham are really enjoying themselves here. Liverpool has yet to start.

Fulham fans are, shall we say, ‘disgruntled with the lead’ in this first half. Joel Matip has gotten away with some questionable tackles. Hosts still hold their own.

CLOSE TO! Fulham’s Pereira whips in a free kick that heads Tim Ream wide, then an effort by Joao Palhinha is deflected wide. Very nice print from the hosts.

Luis Diaz has the ball in the back of the net with a nice curling finish… but Andy Robertson was offside in the build-up. Decent finish from Diaz, though, and much better from Liverpool.

Fulham are really enjoying themselves here. Antonee Robinson flies down the left flank at every opportunity. Liverpool look a little dazed. The home fans love it.

kick-off: And immediately a very good chance for Fulham! Alexander-Arnold’s backlash falls directly on Mitrovic and he takes a few too many touches and then misses an attempt harmlessly. Mitro seemed a little unsure whether or not he should.

Teams are out, it’s loud here in the Cottage and we’re all set. Let’s go.

Hello and welcome to Craven Cottage! It’s a beautiful day here on the banks of the River Thames. What a great place to kick off the first Saturday of the new season.

Fulham team news, injuries, lineup

Joe Bryan and Harry Wilson have been ruled out with wrist and knee problems respectively, while new signings Bernd Leno, Shane Duffy and Kevin Mbabu sit on the bench, while other new lads start Joao Palhinha and Andres Pereira. USMNT duo Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson start for Fulham.

Liverpool team news, injuries, lineup

Jurgen Klopp has messed up all of the pre-season, but we saw his best starting line-up in the Community Shield win against Manchester City last weekend.

Liverpool are without Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Caoimhin Kelleher and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Kostas Tsimikas, Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate all shook off punches. Alisson returns in goal after missing most of the preseason with a stomach problem.

main storylines

It has been a wild ride for Fulham over the past five seasons with two relegations and three promotions to the Premier League. Life at Craven Cottage is anything but boring. All their hopes are once again pinned on Aleksandar Mitrovic, as the Serbian goalscorer (at least in the second tier) will be laced with crosses and the hope is that he can finally become more productive in the Premier League. Marco Silva has been candid about Fulham not making many signings this summer and staying on will be a huge achievement. Silva likes to counter-attack and he needs a good start to the season to build positive vibes. Side note: Fulhamerica is still going strong with Tim Ream and Antonee Robinson set to play key roles this season.

Liverpool have had a reasonable and quiet off-season overall. They sold Sadio Mane at the start of the summer but replaced him with Darwin Nunez, who had set a club record, who looks set to become the next striker at Anfield. And oh yes, they also managed to sign Mohamed Salah to a new long-term contract. Klopp’s side have had some strange pre-season results, but they are warming up well for the new season and the big questions are how Nunez, Diaz and Salah will play together as a forward, plus how much gas Jordan Henderson wants. and Thiago Alcanatara have left in the tank for another push for all four trophies.
