Future of Warner Bros Games Reportedly Discussed by Warner Bros Discovery

The Future of Warner Bros. Games has been reviewed by Warner Bros. Discovery after the arrival of new leadership, such as CEO David Zaslav. Warner Bros. has been in a strange place for the past few weeks with a lot of things stripped or turned inside out. The most notable example of this is the cancellation of Warner Bros. batgirl, a $90 million Batman-adjacent movie that even featured Michael Keaton in the Caped Crusader suit. It was a pretty big movie that would make its debut on HBO Max and while it was almost done with post-production, the movie was canned for a tax write-off. A number of other HBO Max projects were also scrapped and it is believed more are on the chopping block. With such massive changes after the Discovery merger, many are curious about what this means for gaming.

Warner Bros. Games is a big player in the game industry with games like the coming Hogwarts Legacythe upcoming Gotham Knightsand the years 2023 Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Not to mention, the publisher just launched MultiVersus which has become a huge hit. That said, a Reddit user by the name of cwazymuffins, who posted accurate information about Warner Bros.’s plans. Discovery for HBO Max ahead of the company’s earnings call provided some insight into plans for Warner Bros. games. As it stands, WB Games will reportedly be left alone as the division is “profitable” and has “overperformed”. The user even commented that the leadership is “impressed” with WB Games and wants to learn more about the games industry before making any actual changes to the way it works.

Earlier this year, there were rumors that Warner Bros. considered selling WB Games to one of the other big players in the industry, but it seems that’s not the case. At this point, it looks like WB Games will be able to run normally, which isn’t much of a surprise given that Discovery was recently reported to want to “amp up” DC Games. Whether that changes in the future remains to be seen, but given WB Discovery is “impressed” by things, it seems unlikely.

Are you happy to hear that WB Games is reportedly being left alone? Let me know in the comments or give me a call Twitter @Cade_Under.
