Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO), the province’s regulator, has issued Internet gaming licenses for 9 new brands, operated by Games Global, Betsson and Boyd Gaming subsidiary Pala.
This allows the brands to offer games of chance within the Ontario market for a period of 1 year. 7 licenses were granted to Apollo Entertainment LTD, owned by Games Global, along with the other two websites operated by GWN Limited, owned by Betsson and Pala Interactive, owned by Boyd.
The Apollo sites are Zodiac.casino, Yukongold.casino, Luxury.casino, Grandmondialcasino.com, Casinoclassic.com, Captain-cooks.casino, Goldentiger.casino. On.canplaycasino.com and Ot.betsafe.com are the licensed brands of Palo Interactive and GWN respectively.
Ontario’s regulated igaming market was launched on April 4, 2022, three years after the provincial government announced plans to end the monopoly on online lottery gambling in April 2019. hurdle to be overcome in the pre-launch period.
At the end of August, iGaming Ontario, a subsidiary of AGCO, released its financial report detailing the first quarter result of the province’s legal gaming, with gross gaming revenue (GGR) of CA$162m (£106.4m/ $118, 1m/ €121.1 million). This compares to a total stake, excluding bonus stakes, of CA$4.07 billion.
