Hamilton athletes excel at 2022 Ontario and Canada 55-plus Senior Games

District 22 Hamilton/Wentworth athletes delivered outstanding performances at the recently completed 55-plus Senior Games in Ontario and Canada.

In the month of May there were various activities. Many of the events were timed events. Others were prediction events. There was something for all levels of physical ability.

District 22 Hamilton/Wentworth medalists had the opportunity to compete at the Ontario 55+ Games in Peterborough, August 6-9. Winners of those games earn the right to participate in the Canada 55-Plus Games in Trois-Rivières, Que. in two years. This year, the Canada 55-Plus Games were held in Kamloops, BC, from August 22 to 27.

This year’s Ontario 55-Plus Games winners are:

• Brian Cumming (silver in golf);

• William Bleses (bronze in 5-pin bowling);

• Bob Filey (gold in 5-pin team bowling);

• Gregory Smith (gold in 5-pin team bowling);

• Roger Bleses (gold in 5-pin team bowling);

• Sylvia Mackrory (gold in 5-pin team bowling); and

• Dale Smith (gold in 5-pin team bowling).

The winners of this year’s Canada 55-Plus games are:

• John Addison (bronze in swimming);

• Joan Millard (1 gold and 1 bronze in swimming);

• Susan Canfor (2 silver in swimming);

• Aubrey Smith (3 gold and 1 silver in swimming);

• Marilyn Hyatt (Silver in Golf);

• Susan Wakeley (bronze in 10 km cycling); and

• Larry Madill (silver at 10 km cycling).
