Steven Bergwijn leaves Tottenham for Ajax after £25.8 million was initially agreed | Tottenham Hotspur

Steven Bergwijn is on the cusp of leaving Tottenham for Ajax after the Dutch champions agreed to pay €30 million and an additional €2.5 million for the winger. The 24-year-old is due to undergo a medical on Wednesday.

The Spurs have maintained a guaranteed €30 million for a player they signed from PSV in January 2020 for an identical fee. Bergwijn made 83 appearances at Tottenham Hotspur, scoring eight times, but only made four Premier League starts last season and just one under Antonio Conte.

Bergwijn has been a priority target for Ajax since January and his personal terms were agreed some time ago. The deal for the Netherlands international continues Conte’s rebuilding of the squad, a process to continue with the signing of defender Clément Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.

Tottenham have spent £75million on Richarlison and Yves Bissouma and have given Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic on free transfers. The only compensation they have received so far is £6million from Celtic for Cameron Carter-Vickers. Conte’s transfer budget was significantly increased by the club’s owner, Enic.

Fulham have agreements to purchase the Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira for £10million plus £3million in add-ons and to sign winger Manor Solomon on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk† Pereira was loaned to Flamengo last August and spent the previous season with Lazio.
