Why What Not To Wear star Trinny Woodall unveils makeup line

In the early 2000s, the words “Trinny and Susannah” were synonymous with one of the biggest reality shows of the decade.

Premiered in 2001, What not to wear star style gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine. The two women would send British women (who were nominated by their friends and family) determinedly but lovingly to make better fashion choices by overhauling their wardrobes and teaching them to shop for their body shape.

The BBC show was a huge hit in Australia, starring both Trinny and Susannah What not to wear for five seasons before appearing on several other shows, including: Trinny & Susannah undress.

But fast forward to today and Trinny has left the fashion world behind for one of her other passions: Beauty.

Trinny London launched in 2017 with the plan of (similar to how What not to wear had with fashion) make make-up and skin care accessible to everyone with user-friendly products.

Speaking to news.com.au, Trinny said starting her own beauty brand was something she’d always wanted to do.

“I had been working in TV for 15 years and then I worked for TV abroad for five years, from England and Australia,” she said.

“I got to a point where I had met so many women and the first thing they noticed during a makeover was their makeup because a lot of women get stuck in their makeup and don’t know what else to do.

“The joy of building a brand is that you can help so many more women than just doing a TV show and you can have a bigger impact helping them, so it was always something I knew I wanted to do.” .”

Trinny struggled with acne in her teens and twenties, an experience that made her realize “how compromised skin can really affect your self-esteem and to provide great education about what you can do”.

“When I was developing our range, we have a selection of products that are very good for acne-prone or generally a bit compromised skin in that area,” she explains.

“I think as a beauty brand we have a responsibility to provide information and not just sell products to people, and I think we’re really good at that.

“A few of our team have had bad acne and it brought me back to the extent to which it affects your skin.

“I’m really excited about the impact Find Your Balance and Overnight Clarity have on acne-prone skin.”

One of the most iconic features of the Trinny London makeup line are the stackable cream makeup jars, Eye2Eye and Lip2Cheek.

Trinny came up with the idea after years of decanting her own makeup into small jars “so I could access it more easily”.

“It made life so much easier, but they didn’t stack up nicely. I used to glue them together and this was the item I had in many a public restroom, where I was in a restaurant, and someone would say, ‘what’s that?’ And I’d say, ‘it’s my makeup bag,’ and they’d say, ‘where can I buy it?’” she said.

“And I would think, one day I’ll make this.”

When it comes to her favorite Trinny London products, Trinny says she “does every element of skincare religiously”.

“I cleanse my skin with the balm (Be Your Best) and I use our PHA (Better Off) in the morning. Of all skincare, Plump Up is probably my product I couldn’t live without,” she said.

“Although you should always cleanse your skin, it (Plump Up) makes such a fundamental, immediate and long-lasting change on the skin.

“It’s the only one in the range that has that immediate and long-lasting effect – it’s a great product.

“I can’t live without BFF SPF, because I have to put SPF on my face every day and I need that little even complexion – even when I’m just walking out the door. Remember, with products that contain SPF, always read the label. See directions for use Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and wear protective clothing, hats and glasses when exposed to the sun. For effective sun protection, regular reapplication is required.

“And Lip2Cheek because I have certain shades like Veebee that I put on my lip, cheek and eye and then I put some lip balm on it and I’m ready for the day. It’s that easy.”
